A terrible curse blankets the kingdom in darkness, thrusting it into utter despair and erasing all light. One day, a maiden of light appears from the north and chases away the darkness, reintroducing light across the land. However, after taking in all the darkness, the evil overcomes the maiden and consumes her, allowing it to escape her body. As a final attempt to seal the evil, the maiden locks herself away. The king, driven by fear, demands the death of the maiden to save his kingdom. Many warriors journey out in an attempt to slay the maiden, but the darkness curses all who dares to encroach, creating an even greater darkness that consumes the kingdom. Take up arms as the next brave warrior to save the land and expel the darkness!
Choose between one of five origins: the lives of people who fell just short of becoming heroes, all with different skills and abilities. Join one of their lives with yours and begin your own heroic journey. The Heart of Darkness has multiple endings depending on the origin you choose and the decisions you make during your journey.
Enjoy quick turn-based battles where strategy and choice of allies are key! Find Shadow Souls—the spirits of warriors past—and enlist them to aid you in battle! Each has its own unique backstory and abilities and can be swapped out freely.

An expert in close-range combat, Knights have strong physical attacks and possess self-strengthening buffs.
Adventurer
A support class who can strengthen their allies’ skills, Adventurers are able to see things others cannot, making them indispensable for exploration.
Aristocrat
An all-rounder class who possesses knowledge of both swordfighting and magic, Aristocrats are skilled in a wide variety of abilities and take up many different roles when they work together in a group.
Sorcerer
While lacking in physical ability, Sorcerers are masters of magic and can sear their enemies with devastating flames.
Mikalos
A tyrant said to lack the heart of a human. Feared by his subjects as the Beast King.
Blanton
A jolly knight with a penchant for drinking. Ventured into the sanctuary in search of someone.
Mel
A living doll and housekeeper of your estate. She’s well-spoken, an excellent seamstress, and an experienced cook.
Alaine
A priestess who aims to bring salvation to the lost souls trapped within the sanctuary. Yet it seems there’s more to her past than she lets on…
Rafale
A scoundrel who takes full advantage of the lawlessness of the sanctuary. Avoids fighting if he can help it.
Ewan
A knight commander of common birth, ordered to lead a sanctuary subjugation force by the king. She tries her best, but she’s in way over her head.

Ok Ill admit after putting about 13 hours in this game I did not finish it I’ll tell you what happened in a bit. But first this is really a good game its modeled after the souls games and blood born. the atmosphere is set to a dark and grungy atmosphere, Your mansion is up gradable. The combat is turn base goodness. The characters are well drown and sparkling eye candy and with all this you wonder what happened. Well go over to the steam blog I buy all kagura games here so I can’t ask anything their. But if you read them you’ll find they have the same problem that I’m having they can’t finish the game either. yeah its a good game but most of the players are getting stuck. So this is what happened I got as far as crystal lake and beat the giant blue head boss woman that connected the castle to the lake. And know their is no clue to do what’s next. The game has went totally salient. Out of those 13 hours I spent at least 5 of those hours trying to figure out what’s next. I started several times over from the beginning of the sanctuary to the end pushing on walls looking for hiding levers. asking other mpc’s which are as useless as a bag of rocks in a canyon. The mpc’s are only good for the same one liners they started the game with. I’ve checked Youtube , Google, and blogs but have come up with nothing. But this is why the rpg genera isn’t as big as it should be people are scared of buying these smaller company games and not being able to get the most out of the game like finishing it. The triple A companies would just release a guide or find the problem and release a patch to fix the problem. Well lets see if this problem going to be fixed or ignored. This game deserves it because it really is good but this problem does highlight the stereotype about what is said about smaller companies so I really hate to say it but for the good of the Rpg community this situation shouldn’t be ignored. But fix the problem and show the gaming community that the smaller companies should be respected. Well its time to move on to something else. But I still would say try it if you have the time you may have better luck than me because this is really a good game. Its ashame like I always say all it takes is one bad idea to destroy greatness.
